Collage
Collage - stems from the word 'coller' which is french for to glue. It basically means in the art form to put together a collection of images in one image. It has slightly different meanings but all basically mean lots of things together.
This is a technique which has been used for a long time with making images larger then they would be normally only. this allows the photo to be more detailed as you have all the picture of a wide angle lens but then all the detailed of a normal picture which has been taken up close. This technique is mainly used in visual arts but can and is used in music as well. but this is normally called a mix. It is made of of lots of items and can be made up from newspaper, magazines or photos. the earliest signs of this techniques

This is a collage i did of the back of my college. In this photo is a street sign normally used to signify street works. This has been moved, probably a student causing mischief. this was lucky as it meant i didn't have to move far to get to a suitable place for a good collage. One thing i have learned from doing collages is trees are hard. There not hard for the base layer but as you add more and more images all with there slight differences of light and position it gets hard to line them all up. You can see with this images that because of this the building which is in the same photo as the trees is now out of line as i don't know where to put the photo. In this case its worked quite well as it has manged to turn out quite arty. I got the idea to do this image from David Hockney. Obviously being a professional artist his came out much better, i really liked the idea of his to do lots of different places, but i neither have the time or artistic eye to achieve this. these photos where all taken with the same setting which is 1/60, f11 and ISO 100 this meant it was all in focus and light enough to see everything. the photos where all taken with a 50mm so i could capture everything in detail. To achieve this photo at a distance i would of had o stand at least 10m back and then it would be filled with unwanted information so i would have to crop it.
in this photo set there are a lot of photos. I used all of them apart from the last couple. I took these photos because i thought i could make this photo look 3d if i took photos round a corner. This didn't work due to the places where things where overlapped and put them out of place. So this meant everything looked out of place. i took these photos all at 1/60, f11 and ISO 100. this meant they were light and in focus. They might look different because they took time to take and whilst the time went the temperature and weather changed meaning the lighting of the photos changed. this will mean that the whole photo wont fit together perfectly which is nice as it will give the effect of a better collage.
